Man, I am sooo tired this week. I feel like I need to nap all the time. This PCOS & IR stuff is balls for your social life that’s for sure haha. I finish work and get home and it seriously feels like a massive chore just to put together a decent meal.
Then naturally as the week goes on the fatigue gets worse and so I make worse choices for dinner. My inner monologue the other night kinda went like this:
If I was a good daughter/wife I would cook up some Salmon with a beautiful walnut salad for everyone. Yeah… but god damn I am so tired and I would have to go down to the fish market and to the supermarket to get the stuff for the salad. Hmm… maybe there is some chicken breast frozen in the freezer… there isn’t, but there is leftover crumbed fish and chicken pies. Mmm chicken pies… that would only take a few minutes of prep then I just have to wait for it to cook. Yeah let’s do that. Woohoo dinner sorted. THE END.
Yeah, not the best. The problem is the naughtier you eat the worse you will feel each day. Because it is an evil freaking cycle that we put ourselves into. I will fully admit the fault is mine. I have to figure out a way to cope with this fatigue so that I can exercise and eat healthier, I just have to.

You know it is true!!!
My new job is not far from the mall, one bonus of this is that I can walk to the mall during my hour lunch and buy the stuff I will need for dinner. So I have started doing this. I also try to avoid the naughty rows of the supermarket whilst there. Sometimes I will go with other people so I am guilted into buying the right kinds of things hahaha. Pathetic I know, but it works so well.
I know that I need to overhaul my eating habits again because whilst some of the changes I have made are now habit, I am starting to slip on other ones. Luckily I am not working this weekend so I am hoping I can work on a plan then. I know that pre-planning (and not buying sh*tty food) in the first instance is the best way forward for me. I think I will have to schedule meal planning time of a weekend.
I am also trying to link in my News Years Resolution of trying something new to a healthier lifestyle. Coming soon will be Shepherd’s Pie with cauliflower mash instead of potato and perhaps even making my own hummus – LOVE HUMMUS π
What new things have you tried on your journey to a healthier lifestyle? Good or bad, I would love to hear about it!

If you have a good hummus recipe please share! I need to find a yummy one. π

I don’t yet, but when I go to the market the different brands sometimes have VERY different looking hummus, but the ingredients are apparently the same?! So I want to try a recipe or two myself because I love hummus with vegies or on a salad wrap and I figure if I make my own I will know exactly what is in it hahaha. I will certainly share if it works out π

I’ve started following the basic principals of South Beach, and once you can get over the initial carb withdrawl, it’s not so bad. I’ve lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks, and it’s been pretty easy. You just have to get to that point and make the decision. Oh, and it also helps if the city newspaper keeps printing unflattering photos of you from library events π

I have never heard of South Beach… could you post a link to some info for me? That’s a good weight loss, not too fast, but steady which is great. π
It’s not making the decision, I have found that I need to make habits rather than just changes. So far by changing things slowly so they become habits I have lost 9kgs (almost 20pounds) which is amazing, but I have a long way to go and I think a lot of it is that I need to educate myself more. Would love to read about the South Beach stuff if you can recommend some links for me π
Oh no… that is definitely some motivation LOL. How rude, surely you should get photoshop approval hahaha.

Here’s a link to the book I used: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/275-4359300-0585827?k=south+beach
Your loss IS amazing. I still need to lose 50lbs to be at a place where I don’t feel like I’m wearing a fat-suit all the time.
The picture they posted yesterday was terrible. My arm looked bigger than my head and I was sporting a severe double chin. I WISH they would photoshop me, or maybe just remove me from their pictures π

Thank you for the info and the compliment on my loss π
Like you I still have a lot to lose. My first goal is 22kgs (48.5lbs). Then I still think I will need to lose another 20kgs (44lbs) to be healthy. It’s a long road, but they always say it is the journey, not the destination π

Absolutely. Meanwhile I checkout out those links and it turns out my Library service has an old cookbook from South Beach so I have put a reserve on it hahaha.

Oh, I have so much to tell!!! xD

I also felt like you a while ago. I was drinking two to three cups of coffee a day and felt very crappy. I accidentally found a page on Internet explaining my symptoms and the cause of them, and apparently I was eating unhealthy acid food. Every body has a PH balance and mine was not ok. So I looked at the table of products which shows which ones are acidic and which ones are alkaline, and started to eat/drink like 95% alkaline stuff. I felt more energised the second day! And cut the whole coffee! Here’s a table if you’re interested, and if you want I can give you the web-site with everything well explained.

This is cool. Thanks for sharing. I like the table, I eat pretty much across the board by the looks of things. Some things like watermelon I can’t eat anyway because they are quite high GI and I need to eat low GI foods to manage the PCOS and Insulin Resistance π So they are already out of my diet. Some things are really great for protein, but low in GI like turkey and eggs.
Good on you for giving up coffee, huge kudos. I love my coffee, I have basically given up tea though. I drink it very rarely now. I mostly drink lots of water π
