The brilliance of eBooks

Have I told you all how much I love eBooks? No? Maybe? All the time? Well I can’t help it, I totally do.

With my library card from work I have access to literally hundreds of eBooks at the tap of a screen. If I go through the Library website I have access to a number of online reference books (like medical and legal volumes plus encyclopedias) and online databases.

My library also has two eBook platforms; Overdrive and BorrowBox. Overdrive is American and therefore has a wide range of eBooks and audiobooks on it whereas BorrowBox is Australian so concentrates more on Aussie and NZ authors which is great too.

Due to the fact that it is winter and therefore snowy, rainy and cold out, plus the fact we just got a boatload of new content on BorrowBox here is one of the promos I put together for our social media promotion.

Normally I pick up physical books whilst at work because hey, I’m already there right? But sometimes I forget (I do get very busy) and find myself stuck on the weekend without a precious novel (THE HORROR). Then I remember not to fret, I do not have to go down to work on my day off because I can just pick up my iPad and open the app for either Overdrive or BorrowBox and find a great book to read πŸ™‚ Most recently I chose ‘The Lie’ by C.L. Taylor which was great, you will see my brief review in my June 52 Books in 52 Weeks list, it is number 31 πŸ™‚ – I promise June will be out soon, a little shorter than normal, but it is definitely coming!

You will know from past posts of my fall from grace due to my Netflix addiction, you do have to pay for Netflix, (let’s be honest though, the amount is less per month than a single visit to the movies) but wouldn’t it be amazing if soon you could get Netflix access through your library card too.

Gotta love my job πŸ™‚

The promo you created is awesome!! πŸ™‚

Thank you. I was just playing around with befunky and it was actually really easy. The quality of the initial photo wasn’t even that great. The plan for the other ones are the iPad with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and one where it is snuggled up in bed. I kind of like the idea of humanising an inanimate object. My boss is loving the idea πŸ™‚

I love my Kindle! Do you have those there? It’s so much more convenient to just throw in my purse or grab on my way out the door than lugging around a book. Plus if we go on trips, I have hundreds of books with me, so if I finish one I can just start another!!!

Yup we do. Hubby brought me one a couple of years back for our 1st anniversary and I love it. I also have the kindle app on my iPad so I have even more to choose from hahaha.
The reason I first went to eBooks was because I was going overseas and had to be very good with luggage weight. A kindle weighs next to nothing and I had like 30 books on there, it was a beyond brilliant plan πŸ™‚

Argh I am also in love with Netflix. I have a kindle so get my ebooks that way. I do love them though. I love the ease of getting a new book. It’s awesome!

  • Am I Thirty?

Cute promo! Finding out that I can download ebooks straight from the library is what sold me on getting a kindle. It’s just so easy!

I know, it is so great.
Thank you, we have had to send it to the company to see if they are happy for us to do this so fingers crossed they like it. If not I might have to edit my post hahaha.
