I know this house update is very, very tardy (sorry Amy 🙂 ), but it is here now and we have made some great strides. I believe last time we talked we had a slab right? Well after that we got some frames:
First one floor…
Then two floors…
Then they did all the piping and whatnot…
and finally started laying bricks woohoo
Then a little more brickwork and scaffolding to keep the guys safe as they do the roof tiles…
The above was taken on Sunday along with the one below which shows our roof tiles have arrived woohoo. It is hard to tell from the photo, but we also have our gutters in.
Everything is really starting to slowly take shape 🙂

OMG you’re too funny!!! They’re making great progress!! I find it interesting that they lay the brick right on the framing…here they do full walls and then do the brick over them. It’s interesting to see how different builders (and countries) do things differently! I’m so excited for you! When are they saying they will finish? I know you’ve told me but I don’t remember lol.

I thought you would like that 🙂
That’s interesting, I have no idea why they do that. They seem to put up some walls (mostly around windows), I have no idea why that would be different though.
They haven’t given us a date, but because they said it takes a certain amount of weeks we have estimated March 🙂

Interesting. Here they seem to just go from the bottom up for everything…framing, wood walls, brick, drywall, siding. Maybe it’s different everywhere? I guess as long as the houses don’t fall down that’s all that matters!

Haha yeah I am pretty much thinking the same thing. Does it snow where you are? Because I think they do use different techniques in areas that have severe cold. We get severe heat so we made sure that the place would be fully insulated.

Yeah it does snow here. It can get down into the single digits (Farenheit) in the winter, and hangs around the 90s in the summer, sometimes we’ll even get a day in the low 100s. Fun times lol.

Congrats! It looks like it’s really coming along nicely!

Thanks. I think so. Turns out we are the only ones in the street using a lighter coloured brick so the house will stand out a bit, but there is nothing wrong with that hahaha.

Yay! How exciting!
