So awhile ago I started to put together images or rather inspiration boards for the different rooms in our home (OMG I have a HOME!). As you may guess I am pretty flipping excited about owning our first home. You may think that doing inspiration boards is a bit over the top especially because we are going to be pretty poor after the next few months. It will be so weird to see so little money in our accounts when we have been saving like crazy and had very healthy accounts.
Anyway I thought I would share with you my inspiration for our front lounge room. I have never had a proper lounge room before that was a separate area of the house. Here we go…
Because our place was built we had a lot of pallets hanging around and a few were really good quality wood. The plan was that I would use these to build us a coffee table as part of my “Try Something New” resolution. Unfortunately someone came into our backyard and took them. I still plan to do this project, but the plan now is to go for walks in our new neighbourhood and wait for someone to put a good one out for cleanup 🙂
I plan to be quite industrious. There are a lot of off cuts around our neighbourhood currently due to everyone building. I am hoping I can save us quite a bit by knocking together some of our own pieces and you can get bottles of “trial” varnishes and/or paint for a couple of dollars so in all a coffee table like this might cost me $5 haha.

I love those items! The rug and lamp in particular are gorgeous. Did you say where the lamp is from? Might go nicely in my place 🙂

Sorry I forgot to say where everything is from. The lamp is from Bunnings!!! I think it is like $130.
I am not sure where the rug is from because I only found the picture 😦

I am in love with that couch and chair. And that coffee table. Totally my style! 🙂

Thanks. We actually ended up getting that exact couch hahaha.
If I get around to doing the coffee table (in a few months) I will post photos 🙂

I love everything!!! I think I want to get a shelf like that for our nursery, I’m just trying to figure out what color/finish to get. The nursery furniture we chose is wood, but it’s a kind of unusual color so I’m not sure if I should try to match it or just get white…oh the struggles we have lol!!!

Thanks. The cube storage is great. If you got a white or even a black you wouldn’t have to worry about it matching 🙂 Another option would be to see if you can get one that has not been painted and paint it whatever colour you like so it matches the nursery. 🙂

I was discussing it with B this morning, he doesn’t seem to think it matters at all. I wish I could make my OCD believe that!

Hahaha I have noted that often men and women have very differing opinions about what matters LOL.

As do OCD and non-OCD people lol!! I do think a white shelf will look okay though, and it won’t go on the same wall as the other furniture I don’t think. I put one on my registry today, actually! If I don’t like how they go together, I can put it in my sewing room lol!

Very true. I mean really who ever says “I totally have enough storage and could not envisage needing any more”? No one 🙂

You can also get fresh wood to look as aged as that coffee table by soaking steel wool in apple cider vinegar and brushing it on, it’s amazing!

Cool. Thanks for the tip 🙂

Thank you. I was pretty passionate about this room. I am actually slowly getting this together. 🙂 The lounges look even better in person 🙂
